PATIENT INFORMATION

At Born Specialist Group, we understand that there may be many questions you may have with regards to your health, fertility and pregnancy.

We have collated a list of women's health articles and FAQ's to help answer any questions prior to your first appointment.

Please feel free to discuss any of these with one of the doctors at your first appointment.

FAQs
  • Do I need a referral?
All new patients to the practice require a referral from your GP or specialist. This is necessary for both Medicare billing and for ensuring continuity of care between your treating doctors. Referrals need to be renewed annually OR if there is a new issue (e.g a pregnancy consult after fertility treatment) For all new fertility patients please obtain a referral for your partner as well (if applicable).
  • What should I bring on my first appointment?
Please bring your doctor's referral, Medicare card and health insurance details. If you have past x-rays, films or blood results, or letters from other specialists please bring these along.
  • What should I expect during my antenatal visits?
You will have your booking-in visit with your specialist around 7- 10 weeks. A dating ultrasound is usually performed at that visit. In a standard pregnancy, you can expect between 8-12 pregnancy visits in total. During your pregnancy, you will have the opportunity to consult with the other specialists in the Group as well as our Clinical Midwife, Faith Reilly. We recommend having a detailed ultrasound at 12 weeks and 20 weeks gestation.
  • How do I know what the costs are?
Please feel free to speak to our friendly receptionists regarding any out of pocket fees for surgery or consults. For pregnancy patients, there is an obstetric fee schedule . This fee covers all antenatal appointments, in-rooms ultrasounds and provides you with 24/7 cover for emergencies.
